Dr. Du Fachun holds a PhD from the School of Economics, Minzu University of China. His research focuses on rural development in western China and ecological resettlement issues. Dr.Du has been engaged in academic research at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) for more than 20 years. Currently, he is a full Professor and acting dean of the Institute of New Rural Development at Yunnan Agricultural University. His academic positions include President of Association for Canadian Studies in China (2016-2020); Chairman of Commission of Urban Anthropology at China Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (2020-); Deputy Director of Ecological Ethnology Committee at Chinese Ethnological Association (2018-) ; Deputy secretary-general of Chinese Society of World Ethno-National Studies (2020-). Dr.Du is editorial board of Nomadic Peoples Journal, and Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences ' AMBIO-Journal of Human Environment. He directed research projects funded by UN-Women, National Social Science Foundation in China, and CASS etc. Publications including "Research on Ecological Resettlement in the Sanjiangyuan Area of Qinghai", "Economic Transition of Pastoralism in Western China", "Ecological Narratives on Grasslands in China", "Forty Years of Canadian Studies in China" and " YangLa Annals Book". He won awards including "First Prize for scientific research achievements in CASS ", awards from the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, Ministry of Education, Yunnan Provincial Government in China. In 2021, Dr.Du won the honorary title of "Most Beautiful Scientific and Technological Scholar" by China Rural Special Technology Association.
